The Start!

This is the start of my triathlon blog, which I'll be updating with my training, equipment, goals and experiences.
Let's start off with the equipment I've got.

My Bike:

Specialized Hard Rock Pro.

I bought it when I was more interested in mountain biking, but it will have to do until I can afford to buy a road bike. I mostly ride to work on it 2-3 times a week, a distance of 18k (12 miles) each way.

As well as the essential extras like helmet and lights, I've recently fitted a bike computer to monitor my speed, distance, time and cadence.

This was really easy to install on my bike, took 5-10 mins and it was working straight away!

Running

As well as some crotch hugging jogging bottoms and a jacket to keep the rain off my iPod, I've invested in a good pair of trainers:

Nike Air Structure Triax+10 Road Running Shoe

It's support running shoe with dual density Phylon midsole, Nike footbridge (to slow rate of pronation, as I do a little), dual pressure Air provides cushioning. New larger Duralon pad reduces weight and gives this running shoe a smoother ride, which I can verify!

To go with my trainers (and my bike), I've also got a video ipod nano with a nike+ connector to monitor my running progress and a handy armband to keep it in

I've also recently aquired these books on my brothers advice:

Triathletes Training Bible by Joe Friel (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1931382425/ref=sib_rdr_dp)

On my next post, I'll get some times up here!

Hi Tim, I am Bonnie Hansen.
How is your Triathlon Training comming along?
What type of Nutrition program do you use?
I have an amazing one If you are interested. It will boost your stamina, build more lean muscle and clean out the impurities that may be holding you back a little.
Interested?

Hey Tim,
How old are you? Are you married? Kids? I ask because, I have thought of doing a triathalon, but am too old (31) and have kids. Time is a problem. WHen do you go to work? I have to be there around 7:00 AM. Hard to ride my bike so early. Thanks, Ian (backyardbrew.blogspot.com)
P.S. maybe in your next blog you can answer some of these.

Hi Ian, I am Bonnie. I wrote on Tims blog and your message was sent to me. but that is ok.
How old are your Children? Do you realy want to start training?
I do not think 31 is to old to start training for a triathalon. Especially if you have the best nutritional plan and support team.
Go to www.cleansedforlife.com Listen to this great vidio. Then go to www.boniehansen.isagenix.com.
Check out the athlete testimonials and see if this is some thing you would like use to get you kick started. Oh Ya! how would you like to use Chocolate as part of your new Nutritional Program???

Thanks for letting me share.

To reply to my comments:

Bonnie, many thanks but I've not started to look at my nutrition just yet, maybe in the near future.

Whitney:
I'm 28, living with my girlfriend and have no kids.

I get up at 6am Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fri, so I can work out for 30 mins and either go for a run or get on my bike to get to work for about 8am. I swim at lunchtimes as the pool is only 5mins from work which is handy :)
Then on a Sat I get up mid morning for a workout and a run. In the evenings I don't do much at the moment but will be doing recreational sports such as rock climbing, badmington and soccer. I will also be joining a triathlon club.

At 31 you are no where near being too old, my brother is 40 and is still getting better at doing them, he only started in his mid 30's.
